Password Reset Disk
Do you have a password that you type to log onto your Windows account? What would happen if you forgot your password? This could be a serious issue as you would not be able to access your programs or data files. A good prevention method is to create a password reset disk. Even if you changed your password after creating a password disk, you would still be able to reset the password and log on. The password reset disk does not store the actual password, just the code that allows you to reset it. I store my code on a flash drive kept in a safe place.

A *.psw file is stored on the media. When you log on and do type in the wrong password, you see a link for Reset password. Click the link and click Next. You will be prompted for the password key disk that contains the *.psw file. With this file, Windows will prompt you to type in a new password and allow you to log back onto the computer.
